Blue Printing Services
The 100% Bowers blueprint incorporates an entire reworking of a rifle’s action and bolt, turning a sloppy factory action into a quality, super–accurate bench rest quality action. Every rifle under going the blueprinting process is personally hand crafted by Steve using skills developed as a time served tool maker with the care and attention to detail rarified in most modern engineering practices.
The Process
- We hand–lap the bolt race using diamond lapping paste to ensure a perfectly concentric and parallel race.
- The action is mounted on a mandrel and ground between centres to true up it’s O/D and tenon shoulder (this ensures complete parallelism and roundness to the action), and also ensures that the front face is exactly 90° to the bore axis.
- The action is mounted in a precision collet and the tenon threads re–machined and lead threds removed for a spigot location diameter, bolt lugs trued to the action centre–line.
- The front face is drilled and reamed to fit the custom recoil lug and pin.
- The bolt is ground between centres, then sleeved or nickel/hard chrome plated and reground to give 0.001” fit in the body. Lugs, shroud and bolt face are reground to give an exact 90° lock–up in the body.
- The action can be finished either by plating, blueing or specialist paint finishing.
The action is mounted in a collet - tenon threads and body lugs re–machined and made perfectly square.
